The Power of Sharing

>>> The Power of Sharing >>>

Change happens when we share ideas and information. We first shared through one-to-one conversations. Books added the ability for one person to share their ideas with many. But the internet went the next step and expanded our ability to share far beyond anything ever imagined previously. Only the internet has the ability for many to share with many. The outcome of that sharing, solves problems, and makes our lives better.

We first witnessed this phenomenon in the early days of ActiveCaptain. In the beginning, marinas complained about negative reviews. They claimed they were fake. They claimed they were from disgruntled employees. They claimed they were meant for a different marina. Finally, they realized that fixing the issues, giving better service, and improving their facilities made more sense. This created positive reviews. And positive reviews generated more business. Sweeping problems under the carpet never did that.

Ultimately that led to better marinas which is good for everyone.

Sharing your experiences isn't just about documenting your adventures. What you're really doing is becoming involved and making change happen. That is power.

So as this year comes to a close, go back through your memories and share the experiences you've had. Let others know about the good and bad anchorages and give full feedback about the marinas and boatyards you've visited. You're not just documenting your cruising. You're changing the cruising community for the better.

Happy new year. May you continue your adventures in safety while having fun and making a difference.

Dylan and Dee Dee enjoyed Christmas here at Stock Island Marina Village. There's been much playing in the on-site dog park. Santa even broke down and gave both kids a toy - or maybe they were both supposed to be for Dylan... As 2015 comes to a close, the crew is looking forward to the white sand beaches of the Bahamas. Make sure to follow them on Dylan and Dee Dee's blog:
