DeLorme inReach

>>> DeLorme inReach >>>

Last Year, we announced support for the two most common satellite tracking devices for boats - DeLorme inReach and SPOT - inside the ActiveCaptain Locations apps. Using a satellite tracking device means that your location is uploaded to our server automatically and immediately shared with your friends and group members in ActiveCaptain.

The release of this capability occurred the same week we had a Defender 1st special for the DeLorme inReach products. It was a great success. Many of you purchased an inReach, connected it into your electronic boat card, and have been sharing your location all year. The app shows when the location is coming from the DeLorme so it's easy to see how many of you are out there using it.

Some of you missed out on that special and have been asking for a repeat. So we got together with DeLorme and Defender and we're doing it one last time. Now is your chance, don't miss out.

We've had our inReach for nearly two years. When our boat is moving, our DeLorme is on. It has a rechargeable battery and uses very low power. It has been reliable, easy to use, and we're adding more support for it.

We visited DeLorme's offices in Maine this summer to discuss additional ways we could utilize the devices. The inReach has two-way messaging, a critical feature if you need help. You can tap in a message to send out as well as receive messages from others. The messaging happens over satellite so no internet connection is needed - even in the middle of the ocean.

We're finishing Locations 1.3 right now. It will add new messaging capabilities and we'll be supporting messaging with the DeLorme inReach directly in early 2016. It'll be even easier to send and receive messages with your friends no matter where you are. The messaging capability is the reason we use DeLorme. It's wonderful.

There are also some new weather capabilities. Chris Parker told us that he can provide his forecasts over DeLorme messaging if you have the device. Plus, we have new modes coming in 2016 that will use the inReach with our new anchor watch app (Drag King). We'll write more about that in January when we're looking for anchoring testers.

The DeLorme pricing is better than anything you've ever seen. There is a free power mount add-on for the first 160 units. Don't delay because they'll be gone quick.

With the holidays coming, this is an exceptional gift - one that you'll really use every time you're moving your boat. It'll capture your track and share your location plus provide a great safety net. Try doing all that with a sweater!
