Canvas and Upholstery Services

>>> Canvas and Upholstery Services >>>

There's a wonderful thing that happens when a bright light shines on a business - they improve (or they go away). For too long in the boating repair and services sector, there were no lights exposing good and bad experiences. There's a saying that if you have a good experience, you'll tell one friend. And if you have a bad experience, you'll tell ten friends.

But what if you could tell a hundred thousand friends? What if the whole community could be made aware in one place about each and every experience received?

There would be two outstanding results:

1. Each boater would have a way to research the service businesses to decide where to spend their money.

2. Each business would realize that their work would no longer happen in the dark.

This similar situation happened with marinas. For too long, many marina facilities were dirty. Some were disgusting. But shine a light over a few years and they step up. They have to.

Quality businesses want to know your experience as well. They take your feedback to learn where they can improve. That's better for you and for them. It's a win, win, win relationship. The only group that gets hurt from all this exposure is the poor quality providers. And so be it.

So while we've been busy building this big light to shine out, it's been all of you who made it work. It's your ratings and reviews that make the difference. And your same involvement can make the same changes happen with services.

For over 4 years we've been experimenting with the software and server code to implement service reviews. We threw out our first try and started over. What we have now works very well and we're ready to substantially open it to many additional categories of services over the next couple of weeks.

Today we're announcing the availability of the Canvas, Upholstery services group. It's pre-loaded with most of the canvas repair companies in the US. We'll be adding the organizations from other countries over the rest of the summer - it's a tedious job.

We've also made about 50 changes to the services software. Most of it is internal although you'll notice some minor changes.

To access the new Canvas, Upholstery group, go to:

You'll need an ActiveCaptain account and eBoatCards electronic boat card to be able to write a review. Anyone can view the maps, search the lists, and read the reviews. As always, there's no fee to access any of this.

Canvas, Upholstery is the last test before making 19 more categories available at the same time. We need a little testing before making that major addition. To see all the categories coming next, check out the services index page:

All of the major service areas will turn on next at the same time.

With the new canvas section, there are now 5 categories enabled:

Boat Brokers
Canvas, Upholstery
Transport / Land
Transport / Water

These services were chosen for a reason because they are a little less- used. But still, most of us have paid for one or more of these services.

Please help with the final testing. Find or add the businesses you've used in these categories and write reviews about them. Positive reviews are just as important as negative ones. If there are details like phone numbers, websites, addresses, or locations that are incorrect, click the Edit item to edit the data (you must be logged in to edit).

We need a few hundred more reviews to adequately test everything before the real flood gates open.

If you want better services, use these new capabilities. The light is in your hands.

The Maine weather has been most uncooperative for getting the crew out to Indian Bar for a swim. Rain, cold, more rain... Mid-week looks promising and the Whaler is ready to go, so all fingers are crossed. It had better happen soon or we are in jeopardy of having a mutiny. Find out if Dylan and Dee Dee get their swim by following them on their blog:

We're Different
Help You won't find banner ads in ActiveCaptain. They just create noise and take away from the display you're using.

You won't find biased, misleading information here either. The reviews are real because they come from you. Come see here how we're different.
