Charts & Tides
Charts & Tides by Navimatics turns the iPhone or iPad into a NOAA vector chartplotter. It integrates tide and current prediction and has exceptional ActiveCaptain support including the ability to update and add reviews for all data.



PolarView MX
PolarView MX by Polar Navy is an inexpensive app for iPhone/iPad that supports US NOAA raster and vector charts in their native format. It's a nice complement to PolarView for Windows, Macintosh, or Linux.



SailTimer
SailTimer by SailTimer, Inc. is a raster chartplotter app for the iPhone and iPad with special capabilities for sailing. Check out the background and technology on their website. They also make a wireless windvane that will display wind data over the air on an iPhone or iPad.



SEAiq
SEAiq by SEAiq is available in a few different apps. SEAiq Free provides free ActiveCaptain access and free US NOAA vector charts (above 1:50,000 scale); SEAiq Open (also free to try) is for international use and is the only iOS app that lets you install your own S-57, S-63, IENC, or CM-93 vector charts. The SEAiq apps are also the only ActiveCaptain apps for IOS that support external NMEA/AIS over WiFi.



Skipper
Skipper by TrailBehind is perhaps the most internet-savvy of the serious chart-plotting apps. Skipper automatically syncs routes, photos, tracks, and waypoints between any iPads and iPhones you hook up. It uses NOAA raster charts by downloading the free charts directly from NOAA but stitches them together into a seamless chart for your use.

C-MAP/Jeppesen Plan2Nav
Plan2Nav is a top notch charting app for Android. All charts and ActiveCaptain are stored offline so no internet connection is needed to access the data on your boat. There are many features but the highly regarded C-MAP charts with live current arrow overlays, perspective viewing, integrated weather, and navigation features create an excellent product for Android.



MX Mariner
MX Mariner is a full featured raster charting and navigation app that uses free NOAA US, New Zealand, and Brazil charts. It also has low cost in-app support for UK charts. MX Mariner has an incredible value with the app costing only $6.99.



SmartChart AIS
SmartChart AIS by Technology Systems Inc. is a free chartplotter with US NOAA vector charts that provides AIS over cellular display along with ActiveCaptain support and augmented reality capabilities.
